Product Definition and Equipment Matching

This section explains how the finished product specifications affect rewinding, folding, cutting, embossing and packaging equipment selection.

The standard toilet paper roll is one of the most common finished products manufactured by tissue converting lines. It is suitable for household use, supermarkets, wholesalers and general retail distribution.

This product uses two plies of tissue paper, with a typical basis weight of 15–18 gsm per ply. The finished roll measures approximately 100 mm in width and 110 mm in sheet length. Its roll diameter can be adjusted between 100 and 120 mm according to the target sheet count, paper thickness and packaging requirement.

A paper core with a diameter of 38–45 mm supports stable rewinding and helps the finished roll retain its shape during cutting, packing, transportation and storage. Core diameter, perforation length and roll tightness can be adjusted for different local markets.

Full embossing is applied across the tissue surface to improve appearance, bulk and perceived softness. The embossing pattern can be changed according to the customer’s sample or product design. Edge embossing, point-to-point embossing and laminated embossing can also be considered when the production line is equipped with the corresponding units.

After rewinding and log cutting, the finished rolls can be packed in groups of 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 or more rolls. The final pack configuration depends on the local retail channel, bag dimensions and required production capacity.

Recommended Production Process

The parent tissue roll is unwound and guided into the toilet paper rewinding machine. The machine completes embossing, perforation, core feeding, rewinding and automatic log discharge. The tissue logs are then transferred to a log saw cutting machine and cut into individual rolls.

The finished rolls can be manually collected or automatically transferred to a toilet roll packaging machine. For a complete automatic line, conveying, counting, grouping, bag feeding, sealing and finished-pack discharge can be connected into one continuous process.

Equipment Selection Notes

Machine selection should be based on the parent roll width, number of plies, roll diameter, core diameter, perforation length, embossing requirement and target output. Packaging configuration should also be confirmed before the line layout is finalized because pack size affects counting, grouping and conveying arrangements.
